Editorial Policy

Last reviewed: May 2026

This policy describes how InsureLab researches, writes, edits, publishes, and corrects every article on the site. It applies to every contributor and every piece of content, paid or unpaid.

1. Independence

InsureLab is editorially independent. We are not owned by, funded by, or affiliated with any insurance carrier, broker, or comparison marketplace. We do not accept payment for editorial coverage, and we do not allow advertisers to review or influence editorial content before publication.

2. How a guide is built

  1. Topic selection. Topics are selected based on real reader demand — search queries, reader emails, and recurring questions from licensed agents we consult.
  2. Source gathering. Every article starts from primary sources: NAIC bulletins, CMS publications, IRS guidance, state Department of Insurance filings, IIHS data, LIMRA studies, and carrier rate filings where available.
  3. Drafting. A human writer drafts the article. AI assistance is permitted for outlining and proofreading, but never for end-to-end article generation, and AI output is not published without substantive human editing.
  4. Editorial review. The Lead Editor reviews every article for accuracy, clarity, and tone before publication.
  5. Publication. Articles are published with a visible publication date and named author.

3. Sourcing standards

4. Updates and freshness

Every guide is reviewed at least once every 12 months. Material changes (new regulations, premium ranges, tax rules) trigger an immediate update and a new Updated date stamp. Outdated articles that we no longer maintain are removed rather than left to mislead readers.

5. Corrections

If we get something wrong, we want to know. Email massoudisameh@gmail.com with the article URL and the issue. Substantive factual corrections are noted in the article itself with the date of the correction. Typo-level fixes are made silently.

6. Conflicts of interest

Writers and editors disclose any personal or financial relationship with companies they cover. Contributors who hold an active insurance license disclose that fact in their byline and recuse themselves from coverage of their own carrier or agency.

7. Advertising and sponsored content

InsureLab is supported by display advertising. Ad units are clearly labelled Sponsored or Advertisement. We do not currently publish sponsored articles. If we ever do, they will be labelled Sponsored Post at the top of the article and in the URL, and they will be excluded from editorial roundups.

8. What this site is not

InsureLab is general consumer education. It is not legal advice, tax advice, or individualized insurance advice. For decisions about your specific policy, talk to a licensed agent, attorney, or tax professional in your jurisdiction. See our full disclaimer.

9. Privacy

For how we handle reader data, see our Privacy Policy.
